Travel columnist, Nick Trend observed that travelling to Spain by sea is unlikely to be cheaper than the combined cost of flights and car hire, but it can offer a better experience. He states,"The cruise-like crossing is enjoyable and the north coast of Spain, with its great beaches and mountain landscapes, is a tempting destination for a family holiday with all types of services and tourism attractions." Mr Trend also recommended using the Spanish ports as gateways to northern coast as it is well connected to Latin America. Several UK ferry operators offered special deals to passengers last month as part of the second annual National Ferry Fortnight, which ran from May 8th to 22nd.
