The ferry service between Poole and Cherbourg shuts down for winter. We are closing it down for the winter and it will re-open with the resumption of the high speed service next April." The company regretted having to make people redundant and had tried to re-deploy some at Portsmouth. However fewer staff were needed during the winter months. But he said they would be recruiting staff for the season next year and some of the seven who had shown an interest, would be taken on again.
