Hospital Treatment: Holiday travellers to and fro Isle of Wight to mainland will be getting reduced ferry charges for hospital treatment. Isle of Wight, being England`s most beautiful area, is served by three ferry companies carrying passengers on 6 different ferry routes to and from the mainland. Foot and car passengers are offered 50% discount on routes between Fishbourne and Portsmouth, Ryde and Portsmouth and Yarmouth and Lymington. The cut down fare will also cover to one person travelling with the patient, or two parents if the patient is a child. The Isle of Wight scheme, is provided by ferry firm Wightlink, which will be started soon on 21 June. Fair Trading Inquiry:
Wightlink was recently the subject of an Office of Fair Trading (OFT) inquiry, along with Red Funnel and Hover travel. The three firms run the main ferry services to and from the island. People had complained about high prices, unclear charging and declining service, but the OFT said it was not going to refer the matter to the Competition Commission.
