Investment Towards Expansion:
 Investment in the port of Ostend could be good news for Ramsgate as two of the leading ferry companies plan to boost Anglo-Belgian trade links. A commercial agreement between LD Lines and Transeuropa Ferries has lead to cars and freights travel between the Ostend port,the Ramgate port on a daily basis. However, Ostend port is in the process of expanding its berth capacity to accommodate larger vessels and the port authorities are keen to surface the advantage of Belgian motorway network over its French counterpart. Jan Allaert,commercial manager of Ostend’s port said, “We are very much open for business here and want to increase our links with the UK, particularly the port of Ramsgate. Ostend has a history of trading with Kent, which stretches back to 1836.
